HOW THE PROCESS WORKS

How it works

Behavioural concerns

Typical behavioural problems addressed in a behavioural package:

Dogs
  • Reactivity towards people
  • Reactivity towards other dogs
  • General anxiety
  • Fears and phobias
  • Separation related disorders
  • Repetitive behaviours
Cats
  • Inappropriate toileting
  • Reactivity towards people or other pets
  • Inter-cat reactivity
  • Compulsive behaviours

  • Step 1: so we have a problem: who do you talk to?

    • In the first instance talk with your primary care vet.
    • Sometimes our pet's change in behaviour can be an indication of a medical condition.
    • To investigate this, your vet may recommend additional diagnostic tests such as blood work or imaging.
  • Step 2: we think it is a behavioural concern; what now?

    • Provide your vet with the veterinary behavioural form and confirm you are happy for the veterinary record to be shared with myself.
    • Fill in the behavioural questionnaire.

  • Step 3: consultation process

    • Book a consultation which will last usually 2 hours either remotely or in person.
    • See service section of website .
  • Step 4: hard work

    • You will receive a detailed report for you and your primary care vet.
    • This will include a clear treatment plan, highlighting achievable goals and how we can work together to reduce or resolve (if resolution is possible) the behaviour.
    • This step takes GREAT commitment from you and will determine whether we are successful
  • Step 5: reflection

    • Initial follow up call between 2 - 4 weeks to assess how the process is going.
    • Discuss further follow up based on your individual needs .
